Motikiai Murray, flanker for Swire Shipping Fijian Drua, is preparing for an exciting 2025 season, drawing on valuable lessons learned from his 2024 campaign. Reflecting on his past performance, Murray expressed a strong desire for personal growth, stating, “I had a lot of learnings to take from 2024, and I’ve been working hard during this pre-season to become a better version of myself in 2025.”

With a determination to enhance his skills, Murray has concentrated on improving his defense and tackle strategies while also adding to his explosiveness and carrying capabilities on the rugby field. “So, I’ve been working on my defence and my tackle strategies and to carry hard and be explosive on the field,” he noted, eagerly anticipating the upcoming season.

Hailing from Ovalau, Murray has made significant strides in his rugby career. He made his debut for the Drua during their inaugural Super Rugby season in Christchurch in 2023. Additionally, he led the Fiji U20 team to achieve a top 10 finish at the Junior World Cup in South Africa that same year. Before that, he showcased his leadership skills with the Fijian Warriors and Suva’s U19 team.

Beyond rugby, Murray enjoys playing volleyball, adding a diverse element to his athletic pursuits. With his dedication and focus on self-improvement, he is set to make a notable impact in 2025, further establishing himself as a key player in the Drua lineup.
