A 24-year-old man, Kali Masibalavu, has been remanded in custody on charges of murder following an incident involving a 25-year-old man in Suva last Saturday. Masibalavu appeared before Resident Magistrate Jeremaia Savou, who ruled that bail would not be granted due to the serious nature of the crime, which is classified as an indictable offence.

The alleged murder took place outside the Suva Harbour Centre, prompting significant legal proceedings. The case has been referred to the High Court, with the next hearing scheduled for November 19, focusing on a bail application and further discussions.

This tragic incident highlights the ongoing issues of violence in the community, but it also emphasizes the legal system’s commitment to dealing with such serious crimes. As the case progresses, it is important for the community to remain hopeful for justice and healing.
