A man accused of murdering a 59-year-old woman in Navua’s Naitata area is currently awaiting a psychiatric evaluation at St Giles Hospital in Suva. Police have confirmed that the suspect was transferred to the hospital for this evaluation last month.

The victim was discovered by her husband, lying motionless with multiple wounds, in an area designated for farming. Assistant Police Commissioner Mesake Waqa stated on June 25 that initial findings led the authorities to treat the case as a murder.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
