Convicted murderers Edward Nand and Salimoni Lagicere have been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Suva High Court for their role in the brutal killing of Narend Chand, a Fiji-born Canadian national. The shocking incident unfolded in February 2023 when Chand traveled to Fiji after engaging online with someone he believed to be a woman, a profile that was, in reality, controlled by Nand.
Evidence revealed that on the day of the murder, Nand, accompanied by his de facto partner, executed a premeditated plan with Lagicere to rob Chand. After initially presenting themselves as friendly acquaintances, the duo violently assaulted Chand. In a harrowing turn, they subsequently disposed of his body at a bridge near Korovou Town.
