Two men initially charged with aggravated robbery in Savusavu are now under investigation for murder following the death of their elderly victim. The suspects are believed to have unlawfully entered the home of an 86-year-old retired businessman, assaulted him, and stolen various items.

The victim sadly passed away on April 27, prompting authorities to upgrade the charges. Chief of Crime Investigation ACP Mesake Waqa emphasized the Fiji Police Force’s commitment to a thorough investigation, stating that justice must prevail.

This incident reflects a concerning trend of violence against vulnerable community members, highlighting the need for vigilance and preventive measures. As similar cases of aggravated robbery have drawn attention to safety issues, the community is encouraged to engage collaboratively with law enforcement to enhance security.

In light of this tragic event, there is hope that increased awareness will lead to more robust protective measures, reinforcing community ties and fostering a safer environment for residents.
