A 38-year-old man from Vidogo Settlement in Vatuwaqa is set to appear in the Magistrates Court in Suva today facing a charge of murder. The charges stem from an incident that occurred on New Year’s Eve. According to reports, the victim, a 32-year-old manager, was with the suspect and six others at a drinking party.
It is alleged that on New Year’s Day around 10:00 AM, a physical altercation took place during which the suspect assaulted the victim, leaving him unresponsive on the floor. Following the incident, the suspect took the victim to CWM Hospital, where the victim was later pronounced dead.
Investigations into the event have been informed by the accounts of six eyewitnesses who were present at the gathering. The accused now faces charges under Section 327 of the Crimes Act of 2009, which addresses murder.
