A 38-year-old man from the Vidogo Settlement in Vatuwaqa is set to appear in the Magistrates Court in Suva today, facing charges of murder. The incident took place on New Year’s Eve, when the suspect, along with six others, was involved in a drinking party with the victim, a 32-year-old manager.
During the early hours of New Year’s Day, a physical altercation erupted, resulting in the suspect assaulting the victim, who was left motionless on the floor. Following the incident, the suspect transported the victim to CWM Hospital, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
Investigative efforts have relied on testimonies from six eyewitnesses present during the party, contributing to the establishment of the events that led to this tragic outcome. The suspect has been charged with murder under Section 327 of the Crimes Act of 2009.
