A 31-year-old man accused of fatally assaulting a woman in Raiwaqa last Monday has had his case moved to the High Court in Suva. Anare Vuli Ciliceva appeared before Magistrate Jeremaia Savou at the Suva Magistrate’s Court, facing one murder charge. It is alleged that Ciliceva murdered Sabreen Shahib Ali on September 9 in Raiwaqa.
During the court session, Ciliceva expressed his intention to reserve his right to legal counsel, stating the need to make international calls to secure funding for a lawyer. Magistrate Savou granted him time to do so, but clarified that due to the nature of the charge being an indictable offense, the case would be forwarded to the High Court.
Ciliceva will remain in remand during this period, but the court has allowed him 21 days to prepare his Alibi Notice. The case is scheduled to resume on September 30.
