A man accused of murdering a woman in Raiwaqa, Suva, last month made his initial appearance in the High Court in Suva yesterday. Anare Vuli Cilicewa, 31, faces a single murder charge for the alleged killing of Sabreen Shahib Ali on September 9 in Raiwaqa.
During the court proceedings, Cilicewa indicated that he had not yet secured legal counsel but had submitted an application to the Legal Aid Commission for representation. State Prosecutor Zenith Zunaid informed the court that they required an additional seven days to prepare full disclosures regarding the case.
Zunaid explained that further police investigations were still necessary, and more information would be presented in the subsequent court session. The case has been adjourned until October 16, when the status of Cilicewa’s legal representation and the full disclosures will be reviewed.
Additionally, the production order for Cilicewa was extended. Before the adjournment, Zunaid mentioned that he would be attending another court for a separate matter but would instruct another prosecutor to represent him in this case.
