A man accused of murdering a woman in Raiwaqa, Suva, last month made his first appearance in the High Court in Suva yesterday. Anare Vuli Cilicewa, 31, is facing one count of murder for the alleged killing of Sabreen Shahib Ali on September 9.
During the court session, Cilicewa informed the judge that he had not yet secured legal representation but had submitted an application to the Legal Aid Commission for assistance. State Prosecutor Zenith Zunaid requested an additional seven days to provide full disclosures regarding the case, citing the need for further police investigations.
The court scheduled the next hearing for October 16 to allow time for Cilicewa to retain a lawyer and for the completion of the disclosures. In the meantime, the production order for Cilicewa was extended. Before the adjournment, Mr. Zunaid noted his presence in another court for a separate case but stated he would instruct another prosecutor to represent him in this matter.
