A man accused of murdering a woman in Raiwaqa, Suva, last month made his first appearance in the High Court in Suva. Anare Vuli Cilicewa, 31, faced one count of murder in front of Puisne Judge Justice Pita Bulamainaivalu.
Cilicewa is alleged to have killed Sabreen Shahib Ali on September 9 in Raiwaqa, Suva. During the hearing, Cilicewa stated that he had not yet secured legal representation but had submitted an application for assistance from the Legal Aid Commission.
State Prosecutor Zenith Zunaid informed the court that they required an additional seven days to file complete disclosures. He also noted that further police investigations were needed, and additional information would be provided at the next court session.
The case has been adjourned until October 16 to allow for updates regarding Cilicewa’s legal counsel and the full disclosures. Meanwhile, Cilicewa’s production order has been extended. Before concluding the session, Zunaid mentioned he would be attending another court matter but would ensure that another prosecutor would represent him in this case.
