A man accused of murdering a woman in Raiwaqa, Suva, last month appeared in the High Court in Suva for the first time yesterday. Anare Vuli Cilicewa, 31, faces a charge of murder for allegedly killing Sabreen Shahib Ali on September 9.

During the hearing, Cilicewa informed the court that he had not yet secured legal representation but had submitted an application for assistance from the Legal Aid Commission.

State Prosecutor Zenith Zunaid requested an additional seven days to provide full disclosures, noting that further police investigations were necessary and additional information would be available at the next court session.

The case was adjourned until October 16 to confirm Cilicewa’s legal representation and to gather complete disclosures. Meanwhile, Cilicewa’s production order was extended.

Before the adjournment, Mr. Zunaid mentioned that he would be attending another court matter but would ensure another prosecutor handled the case in his absence.
