The individual accused of murdering a woman in Raiwaqa, Suva, last month made his initial appearance in the High Court in Suva yesterday. Anare Vuli Cilicewa, 31, faces one count of murder for the alleged killing of Sabreen Shahib Ali on September 9 in Raiwaqa.
During the court proceedings, Cilicewa informed the judge that he did not yet have legal representation but had submitted an application for assistance from the Legal Aid Commission.
State Prosecutor Zenith Zunaid advised the court that they required an additional seven days to provide full disclosures. He mentioned that police were still conducting further investigations, and additional information would be presented at the next court session.
The case has been postponed until October 16 to allow for the appointment of Cilicewa’s lawyer and to ensure full disclosures are made. Meanwhile, Cilicewa’s production order has been extended. Zunaid also noted that he would be attending another court session for a different case, but would instruct a colleague to represent him in this matter.
