Muntz Sets Sights on Kicking Perfection Ahead of Tonga Clash

Flying Fijians flyhalf Caleb Muntz is focused on improving his kicking skills ahead of the Pacific Nations Cup match against Tonga. Muntz contributed significantly during the game against Samoa but feels his performance fell short of expectations. While he successfully converted three tries and added two penalties, he recognizes the need for improvement.

Muntz described his performance as “average” and stated that his kicking accuracy requires refinement. “I was a bit rusty, and I believe I can do much better—not just in goal kicking but also in punting and kick-offs. It was slightly off, but it was my first proper game back in a few weeks as I’ve been in and out,” he mentioned.

He expressed his joy in rejoining the team and acknowledged their solid performance against Samoa, while also stressing that there is still work to be done before facing Tonga.

Hooker Mesulame Dolokoto echoed Muntz’s sentiments, emphasizing the need for the team to improve their on-field decision-making and fitness, particularly concerning throwing and scrums. Dolokoto pointed out that maintaining fitness is essential for effectively executing skills during a match.

The FIJI Water Flying Fijians are set to take on Tonga next Friday at the Teufaiva Sports Stadium in Nuku’alofa, Tonga.
