Seven individuals have been arrested in separate drug raids nationwide within the past 24 hours. In Kadavu, two men were apprehended at the Vunisea jetty after the discovery of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana and smoking devices. In the Eastern Division, a 22-year-old man was arrested in Koronivia after authorities found several zip lock bags containing white crystals believed to be methamphetamine and cash suspected to be proceeds of crime. In the Western Division, two men were arrested in Rakiraki with dried leaves suspected to be marijuana.
Additionally, in the Northern Division, raids in the Savusavu area resulted in the seizure of nearly 1,000 plants suspected to be marijuana from three farms. One arrest was made from these operations. A 20-year-old farmer was taken into custody in connection with a raid in Naweni. In Taveuni, a 42-year-old man was arrested following the discovery of dried plant materials believed to be marijuana in his workshop and backyard.
All suspects are currently in custody as investigations are ongoing.
