Movember Milestone in Fiji: Over $20K for Men’s Health

Vinod Patel and Home & Living, alongside the Vinod Patel Foundation, have successfully wrapped up their month-long “Movember” campaign, dedicated to raising awareness of men’s health issues, particularly prostate cancer and mental health. This yearly charity initiative saw team members rally together, supported by the Vinod Patel Foundation, to raise funds for this vital cause.

This year, the campaign included a charity raffle with the ambitious aim of donating $20,000 to both the Fiji Cancer Society and St Giles Hospital. Jatin Patel, the CEO of Home & Living, emphasized the importance of such initiatives, noting that male staff grew moustaches throughout the month to visibly show their support while promoting awareness of men’s health.

Patel highlighted the significance of initiating conversations about mental and physical health among men, acknowledging that social norms often discourage open discussions on these topics. “It is more important to raise awareness,” he stated, urging the need for preventive actions before health issues escalate.

The campaign successfully raised just over $20,000, distributing the funds equally between the Fiji Cancer Society and St Giles Hospital. Mr. Patel reaffirmed the commitment of Vinod Patel and Home & Living to continue promoting health awareness among Fijians and to strengthen partnerships that support this mission.

This initiative not only brings critical funding to health services but also fosters a culture of openness around men’s health issues in the community, contributing positively to societal well-being.
