Swire Shipping Fijian Drua flanker Motikiai Murray is preparing for an exciting 2025 season, motivated by the lessons learned from his performance in 2024. Reflecting on his previous campaign, Murray recognizes the growth it has presented him.
“I had a lot of learnings to take from 2024, and I’ve been working hard during this pre-season to become a better version of myself in 2025,” he shared. His focus for the upcoming season includes sharpening his defense, enhancing his tackling strategies, and increasing his explosiveness and ball-carrying capabilities on the field.
As he looks ahead to 2025, Murray states, “I’m looking forward to this season,” indicating his eagerness to elevate his game. Hailing from Ovalau, he has already carved a notable path in rugby. In 2023, he made his debut for the Drua during their inaugural Super Rugby season in Christchurch and captained the Fiji U20 team to a commendable top 10 finish at the Junior World Cup in South Africa. His previous experiences include representing the Fijian Warriors and Suva’s U19 team, marking him as a talented leader.
Outside of rugby, Murray enjoys playing volleyball, indicating a well-rounded athletic ability. With his dedication and clear commitment, he is poised to leave a significant mark in the 2025 season, further securing his position in the Drua lineup.
