Staff members from the Motibhai Group’s head office in Nadi participated in a significant environmental initiative by planting 1,000 mangrove seedlings at Wailoaloa Beach last Saturday. This endeavor, which involved 42 employees, is part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts aimed at fostering environmental sustainability and protecting Fiji’s vital coastal ecosystems.

The Motibhai Group emphasized the importance of mangroves in offering shoreline protection, enhancing biodiversity, and aiding in carbon sequestration. This initiative reflects their commitment to sustainable development, demonstrating a proactive approach to environmental stewardship. “It is important to preserve our marine life and the ecosystem for future generations,” stated Sanjay Kumar, Group Manager for People, Culture & Admin, highlighting that such activities also bolster employee engagement and foster a sense of pride within the workplace.

In addition to planting mangroves, Motibhai Group staff had previously conducted a beach cleaning campaign to reduce pollution and protect marine life from waste. The group’s collaboration with the Ministry of Forestry, which provided the seedlings and designated planting sites, underscores their commitment to collective action for environmental wellness.

Earlier this year, the Motibhai Group had also made charitable contributions to support Animals Fiji’s animal rescue initiatives and participated in tree planting drives as part of national efforts to restore forests. These actions not only contribute to a healthier planet but also strengthen community ties, creating a holistic approach to corporate responsibility.

The robust dedication of the Motibhai Group to sustainability and community betterment serves as an inspiring model for other organizations, showcasing the potential positive impact businesses can have on the environment and society.

This article aligns with various environmental initiatives seen across Fiji, such as the Fiji Marriott Resort’s mangrove planting efforts and collaborative projects by local communities aimed at enhancing marine ecosystems. These growing trends indicate an increasing recognition of environmental conservation’s importance, fostering hope for sustainable practices among businesses and communities alike.
