The Motibhai Group has made a significant contribution of $11,653.75 to the Fiji Cancer Society following the recent 20th Bushells Fiji’s Biggest Morning Tea event held at their head office in Nadi. This brings the total raised through their morning tea fundraisers to over $43,000 for the cause this year.
During the launch of the campaign in May, the company had initially provided $6,500 to the society. Motibhai Group manager Glenys Traill expressed that the event serves as a poignant reminder of community unity and compassion for those impacted by cancer. “Bushells Fiji’s Biggest Morning Tea is more than a celebration of community and friendship; it symbolizes hope for all whose lives have been touched by cancer,” she said.
The event not only raises funds but also increases awareness about cancer, promotes early detection, and assures those affected that they are not alone in their battles. Saukuru Seavula from Aspen Lautoka Hospital’s Oncology Unit commended the support from Motibhai, noting that it goes beyond financial assistance to profoundly impact lives.
This collaboration highlights ongoing efforts to combat cancer within the community. By providing essential resources such as oxygen concentrators and transportation services for patients, the Fiji Cancer Society and supporting organizations are making strides towards alleviating the burden of the disease on families.
The parallel coverage of previous Bushells Fiji’s Biggest Morning Tea events emphasizes the importance of community action in raising funds and awareness. This event continues to serve as a vital platform, showcasing the collective response to cancer challenges faced by many in Fiji. It reflects the theme of hope and solidarity in the fight against this daunting disease, reinforcing the critical role of partnerships between corporate sponsors and health organizations.
