Two men are in police custody after an armed robbery at a pharmacy on Moti Street last night. The suspects, aged 24 and 33, allegedly stormed the store armed with a knife and a chopper, threatening staff before making off with mobile phones, cash and a laptop.

The Samabula Police Operations team acted swiftly, sealing off likely escape routes and arresting the two men soon after the report was received. All stolen items were recovered, along with the knife and chopper used in the robbery. Investigations into the incident are continuing.

This incident comes amid a recent spate of aggravated robberies in the region. In Tamavua last month, two men aged 27 and 29 were charged after allegedly breaking into the home of a 46-year-old man on October 30 and stealing cash, a mobile phone and other items. They appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court on November 4, were remanded in custody, and a further mention was scheduled for November 18. Authorities say such swift arrests in related cases demonstrate a continued commitment to public safety and crime prevention, and residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

In summary, police responses in these incidents underscore a determined effort to safeguard communities, with suspects being brought to account and victims receiving some closure as investigations continue. The swift recovery of stolen items and weapons is a positive sign for public safety, and authorities encourage ongoing cooperation from the community to deter future crimes.
