Asenaca Raloka has dedicated eight years to teaching in an all-boys school, where she has faced challenges while experiencing significant personal growth. Her journey at Ratu Kadavulevu School has been marked by a strong sense of responsibility and an empathetic approach to education.

Despite the difficulties that come with teaching in a male-dominant environment, Asenaca has successfully combined discipline with maternal care. She emphasizes that her responsibilities extend beyond academics, focusing on her students’ personal development as well. “One of my core beliefs is the importance of instilling basic table manners and promoting healthy living habits both at home and in school,” she explained.

These basic practices play a crucial role in teaching respect and personal hygiene, leading to a more holistic education that prepares students for life outside the classroom. Outside her teaching duties, Asenaca balances her role as a mother of two, living with her family in the school compound, which provides convenience in managing both her professional and household responsibilities.

Her weekly shopping routine typically costs between $200 and $250 and includes essential items like cereals, milk, and other necessities. Asenaca prefers to visit supermarkets that offer special deals and regularly sources fresh produce from local markets, supporting the local economy while ensuring her family gets nutritious food.

She has observed that many shoppers from nearby villages are often in a rush due to bus schedules, making careful purchasing essential. Asenaca advises that taking the time to shop mindfully can lead to better budgeting and satisfaction with purchases. Her dual commitment to her family and students underscores the balance between personal and professional responsibilities, and she encourages shoppers to make thoughtful choices to avoid disappointment.
