More individuals are anticipated to appear in court today in relation to the Vatia drug case. While authorities have yet to release an official statement, reliable sources inform that these individuals will be brought before the Rakiraki Magistrates Court.
The individuals are believed to be connected to a significant drug seizure involving 2.6 tonnes of cocaine that occurred in Vatia. In earlier developments, four foreign nationals along with two men from Veisaru in Ba were already charged in connection with this case.
This major seizure, consisting of 2,630 parcels, took place during a meticulously coordinated drug raid in the Vatia waters on January 15. The Fiji Police Force has indicated that this operation was the result of extensive intelligence gathering by the Serious Organised Crime and Intelligence Department, in close collaboration with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration.
As this case unfolds, more information is expected to be released, shedding light on the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
