Montoya’s Move: Former Warriors Star Set to Rejoin Bulldogs!

Former Fiji Bati player Marcelo Montoya is set to depart the New Zealand Warriors and return to Australia. The 28-year-old has secured an early release from his contract, which was scheduled to end next season.

Warriors general manager of recruitment, pathways, and development, Andrew McFadden, expressed satisfaction with Montoya’s decision, stating, “We were happy for Marcelo to see out his contract with us but we’re really pleased he has found a club back in Australia giving him longer-term security.” He praised Montoya for being an outstanding presence at the club over the last four seasons, highlighting his significant contributions both on and off the pitch, and extended best wishes to Montoya and his wife, Tayla, for their future.

Montoya is anticipated to rejoin his former team, the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs, with a new two-year contract. During his time with the Warriors, he scored 30 tries in 82 appearances, playing in all 27 matches for the team in 2023.
