Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Communications Manoa Kamikamica is set to present a Ministerial Statement regarding the technical and financial investigation of Walesi PTE Limited during today’s Parliament session.

In a conversation with FijiLive, Kamikamica mentioned that the report, which stemmed from an audit by the Office of the Auditor-General, will first be submitted to Cabinet for consideration before being presented in Parliament. This report, made available last month, is expected to shed light on the financial oversight of Walesi’s operations.

Kamikamica also indicated that based on the findings, there may be a need to refer the report to the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption. He highlighted that since 2015, a total of $125.6 million has been invested in establishing and launching the satellite digital television platform, which is significant for the country’s digital infrastructure.

This development represents a major step towards transparency and accountability in government spending, particularly in technology investments that are crucial for enhancing digital access in Fiji. The expected outcomes of today’s discussions could lead to important reforms and improvements in public resource management and oversight.
