Moce Secondary School Crowned U19 Cricket Champions in Thrilling Finale

Moce Secondary School has emerged victorious in the Fiji Secondary Schools Men’s Under-19 Cricket Tournament, which concluded at Albert Park. They secured a win against Cicia High School by 48 runs, wrapping up the week-long competition that started on Tuesday.

Team manager Teni Davui expressed the team’s joy in winning the match against Cicia, highlighting the impressive performances from both teams. She noted the team’s surprise at their advancement throughout the tournament.

“We still couldn’t believe that we’d make it this far, but we’re all happy that we’re able to win against Cicia this afternoon,” Davui stated.

Moce Secondary initially triumphed over Cicia by 47 runs in their opening match earlier in the week. Davui also acknowledged the tremendous support the team received from parents, guardians, and the public throughout the tournament.

“First, when we left from the island, we couldn’t believe that it would turn out this well,” she said. “Before the team returned to Moce Island last month, we were only preparing for the tournament, thinking that only parents from the villages and us teachers would be the supporters. But today, the turnout was outstanding.”

She further emphasized that the team’s performance during the tournament was exceptional. In the third-place playoff, Suva Grammar School defeated Ratu Finau Secondary by five wickets.
