Moana Pasifika Strengthens Squad with Wallabies Star Pone Fa’amausili!

Moana Pasifika has strengthened its front row by signing Wallabies prop Pone Fa’amausili for the upcoming Super Rugby Pacific season.

Weighing 130 kg and standing 196 cm tall, Fa’amausili has seven test caps for Australia, with his most recent appearance at the 2023 World Cup.

At 27 years old, he was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, and has Samoan heritage. He made his Super Rugby debut in 2018 with the now-defunct Melbourne Rebels.

“I’m extremely excited about the opportunity with Moana Pasifika, to share my knowledge and experiences while learning from a talented group of men. Learning from a coach like Tana (Umaga) is very exciting,” Fa’amausili expressed.

He also highlighted the importance of joining Moana Pasifika as a way to connect with his culture and represent his people, which holds special significance for him and his family.

Moana Pasifika head coach Tana Umaga praised Fa’amausili as a “powerful player who brings physicality and experience” and emphasized that his signing further enhances the team’s forward pack.

Earlier this year, Moana Pasifika made headlines by signing All Blacks flanker Ardie Savea to a three-year deal and most recently added first five Jackson Garden-Bachop to their roster.
