Moana Pasifika Secures Wallabies Prop Pone Fa’amausili!

Moana Pasifika has enhanced their forward lineup by signing Wallabies prop Pone Fa’amausili for the upcoming Super Rugby Pacific season.

The imposing 130kg, 196cm tight-head prop has earned seven caps for Australia, with his most recent appearance at the 2023 World Cup.

Fa’amausili, 27, was born and raised in Melbourne and has Samoan heritage. He made his Super Rugby debut for the now-defunct Melbourne Rebels in 2018.

“I’m extremely excited about the opportunity with Moana Pasifika, to share my knowledge and experiences while also learning from such a talented group. Learning from a coach like Tana (Umaga) is particularly exciting for me,” Fa’amausili expressed.

“Joining a team like Moana allows me to connect with my culture and represent my people, which is essential and will be a special experience for my family.”

Moana Pasifika head coach Fa’alogo Tana Umaga praised Fa’amausili as a “powerful player who brings physicality and experience,” stating that his addition further strengthens the team’s forward pack.

In July, Moana Pasifika made headlines by signing All Blacks flanker Ardie Savea to a three-year deal and has recently added first-five Jackson Garden-Bachop to their roster.
