Moana Pasifika is gearing up for an exciting season opener in the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific, set to take place this weekend against the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua. The Pasifika team touched down at Nadi International Airport earlier today, and head coach Tana Umaga expressed the enthusiasm shared among his squad as they prepare to face their Pacific Island rivals this Saturday.

This match marks a significant encounter, especially considering that the teams last faced off during Round 11 of the 2025 Super Rugby Pacific season, where Moana Pasifika achieved a convincing 34-15 victory at North Harbour Stadium in Auckland. However, Umaga acknowledges that this weekend’s game will present a different challenge, particularly as they take on the Drua at their formidable home ground, Churchill Park in Lautoka.

“The boys are all very excited for our opening game. It will be a very physical one, and we know it’s going to be tough playing them here in Lautoka, where they have defeated some big teams,” Umaga stated. Churchill Park has indeed gained a reputation as a formidable fortress for the Drua, showcasing home victories over esteemed teams such as the Crusaders, Chiefs, Waratahs, and Western Force in previous seasons.

The much-anticipated match will kick off at 3:30 pm and can be viewed live on FBC Sports. Fans can expect an intense competition filled with passion and skill as these two teams clash, bringing anticipation to the stadium and excitement to rugby enthusiasts across the Pacific. This season invites further potential as both teams seek to establish their dominance in the league, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and competition among Pacific Island nations.
