Opal Suchata Chuangsri from Thailand has been crowned Miss World 2024 during a glamorous ceremony held in Hyderabad, India. Competing against 108 other contestants, Chuangsri’s victory marks a significant achievement as she was recognized with the coveted title. Hasset Dereje Admassu from Ethiopia was named the first runner-up.
The event saw Chuangsri receive her crown from last year’s titleholder, Krystyna Pyszková. This year marked the 72nd edition of the Miss World pageant, hosted by Miss World 2016 Stephanie del Valle and Indian presenter Sachiin Kumbhar. India previously hosted the pageant in the last year, showcasing the country’s ongoing commitment to the global pageant scene.
Notably, India’s own Nandini Gupta made it to the final 20 but did not secure a spot in the top rankings. Historically, India has a strong legacy in the Miss World competition with six past winners, including notable figures like Aishwarya Rai and Priyanka Chopra.
In addition to the excitement surrounding the crowning of Chuangsri, the event reinforced the importance of beauty pageants in promoting cultural exchange and empowering women globally. Such platforms continue to serve as opportunities for women to advocate for causes close to their hearts, highlighting issues such as education, health, and social justice.
With the pageant fostering an atmosphere of unity and inspiration, Chuangsri’s win is a hopeful sign that beauty and empowerment can drive positive change in communities around the world.
