Miss Samoa, Iliganoa Feagaimali’i Soti, hails from the serene village of Vaisala in Savai’i, where her upbringing was steeped in faith, culture, and a commitment to service. Growing up in a supportive and close-knit community, she attributes her core values and sense of responsibility to her parents and the influence of her village.
An accomplished academic, Iliganoa is an alumna of the prestigious Australian Awards and holds a Bachelor of Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of Adelaide. Currently, she serves as a Lecturer in Sociology, Foundation Courses Coordinator, and Researcher at the National University of Samoa, where she passionately guides young students on their educational journeys.
Her contributions extend far beyond the classroom. Iliganoa has made significant strides as a World Literacy Foundation Youth Ambassador, an Australian Awards Changemaker, a founding member of the Samoa Youth Advisory Board, and a Youth Delegate to the Commonwealth Youth Council. Her active representation of Samoa and the Pacific has been showcased at international forums, peace conferences, and particularly during the Youth Forum of the 2024 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
Dedication to cultural preservation is close to her heart, exemplified by her participation in the Anofale Mentoring & Leadership Program. This initiative aims to protect and promote Samoan cultural heritage. Additionally, she co-facilitates the Peer2Peer Initiative at her university, where she mentors students in developing vital personal and professional skills. Iliganoa is also the founder of the Ola Malosi Initiative, a community space designed to promote health and wellbeing through exercise and mental wellness, emphasizing the importance of balancing the mind, body, and spirit.
Bestowed with the Taupou title Iliganoa by her village, this honor recognizes her significant contributions to leadership and community service.
