Seven women are set to compete for the title of Miss Nasinu Festival 2024 later this month. The festival was reintroduced at Kalabu Housing in Valelevu on Thursday night after a five-year hiatus.
During the launch, Local Government Minister Maciu Nalumisa emphasized that the participants embody the spirit of tradition and heritage, representing unity, strength, and pride within the community. He expressed optimism for an exciting festival season ahead.
“The festival queens serve as exemplary figures of female empowerment and leadership, motivating young women to assume influential roles in society,” Mr. Nalumisa stated.
He noted that the Coalition Government aims to unite the community from various backgrounds, highlighting the significance of showcasing the Nasinu Town queens in the community’s heart.
Mr. Nalumisa also underscored the importance of community engagement, aligning with the government’s initiatives. He mentioned that the Coalition Government, through the Public Rental Board, is collaborating with financial institutions and the Ministry of Trade and Commerce to provide financial literacy training.
“The primary goal of these trainings is to enhance budgeting and saving skills among tenants, also enabling families in Public Rental Board flats to transition into new homes,” he explained.
He extended his gratitude to the organizers, sponsors, participants, and volunteers for their invaluable support. The festival is scheduled to take place from August 24 to 31.
