Seven women are set to compete for the title of Miss Nasinu Festival 2024 later this month. The festival was officially launched at Kalabu Housing in Valelevu on Thursday evening, marking its return after a five-year hiatus.

During the launch, Local Government Minister Maciu Nalumisa highlighted that the contestants not only embody the essence of tradition and heritage but also represent unity, strength, and pride within the community. He emphasized that this event paves the way for an exciting festival season.

“The festival queens exemplify female empowerment and leadership, serving as an inspiration for young women to take on influential roles within society,” said Mr. Nalumisa. He also noted that the Coalition Government is committed to uniting the community across different backgrounds and emphasized the significance of showcasing the Nasinu Town queens at the heart of the community.

Mr. Nalumisa pointed out that the event underscores the importance of community engagement, aligning with the government’s vision. He mentioned that the Coalition Government, in collaboration with the Public Rental Board, is working with financial institutions and the Ministry of Trade and Commerce to provide financial literacy training aimed at enhancing budgeting and saving skills among tenants.

“The ultimate goal of these trainings is to help improve financial management and assist families living in Public Rental Board flats in transitioning to new homes,” he added.

The minister also expressed his appreciation to the organizers, sponsors, participants, and volunteers for their contributions. The festival is scheduled to take place from August 24 to 31.
