Miss Hibiscus Melania Tora Celebrated in Heartwarming Village Ceremony

Miss Hibiscus, Melania Tora, was welcomed with a traditional ceremony in her village of Sabeto, Nadi, on Saturday. The community, known as the Vanua o Betoraurau, celebrated her victory as she has effectively promoted both her village and Fiji on a global scale, according to clan leader Kiniviliame Mokotanavanua.

The event also saw the attendance of Tui Sabeto, Ratu Viliame Mataitoga, who expressed pride in Tora’s achievements. He stated, “Your success shines as a beacon of hope and inspiration to many. Congratulations to our amazing vulau (daughter)!”

Ms. Tora, who was sponsored by Tents and Awnings, was crowned two weeks ago. During the ceremony, Ratu Viliame praised her for representing her roots with pride and acknowledged the recognition she brought to her vanua and chiefly house, Na Momo na Tui Sabeto.

Tora expressed her gratitude towards her chief and the support she received from her community during the festival, crediting their guidance and prayers for her success in winning the Miss Hibiscus title.
