Miss Hibiscus 2024 Celebrated with Traditional Honor in Sabeto

Melania Tora, crowned Miss Hibiscus, received a traditional welcome ceremony in her village of Sabeto, Nadi, on Saturday. The local community, known as the Vanua o Betoraurau, celebrated her achievement, recognizing her efforts to promote Nadi and Fiji on a global stage, according to clan leader Kiniviliame Mokotanavanua.

The event included attendance from the Tui Sabeto, Ratu Viliame Mataitoga, who expressed pride in Ms. Tora’s success, stating, “Your success shines as a beacon of hope and inspiration to so many. Congratulations to our amazing vulau (daughter)!”

Ms. Tora, who was sponsored by Tents and Awnings, was crowned just two weeks ago. Ratu Viliame praised her for embodying the spirit of her village and emphasized the importance of representing one’s roots with pride. He added that, while her name may not be mentioned everywhere, the name of her chief house, Na Momo na Tui Sabeto, is now recognized throughout Fiji and beyond.

In her address, Ms. Tora expressed gratitude to her chief and the community for their unwavering support during the festival. “It was through your support, your guidance, and your prayers that I was able to achieve the Miss Hibiscus crown. Thank you,” she remarked.
