Melania Tora, crowned Miss Hibiscus 2024, received a traditional welcome ceremony in her village of Sabeto, Nadi, on Saturday. The local community, known as the Vanua o Betoraurau, celebrated her achievement, recognizing her efforts in promoting both Nadi and Fiji on a global stage, according to clan leader Kiniviliame Mokotanavanua.
The event saw the presence of the Tui Sabeto, Ratu Viliame Mataitoga, who expressed pride in Tora’s success, stating that her accomplishment serves as a source of inspiration for many. Ratu Viliame congratulated Ms. Tora, calling her an amazing daughter of the village.
Having been sponsored by Tents and Awnings, Ms. Tora was crowned two weeks prior to the celebration. Ratu Viliame added, “You carry the spirit of our village in your heart, and we are so grateful for the way you have honored where you came from.”
Tora took a moment to express her gratitude towards her chief and the support from her community, acknowledging their role in her success. “It was through your support, your guidance, and your prayers that I was able to achieve the Miss Hibiscus crown. Thank you,” she said.
