Marica Waqaniburotu, recently crowned Miss Friendly North 2024, is eager to represent Labasa in the upcoming Miss Fiji pageant, though the event has yet to be officially confirmed. She expressed her commitment to highlighting the beauty of her town if given the opportunity.
“I will ensure that our stunning town is showcased to the rest of Fiji,” Waqaniburotu stated during an interview. She aims to be an advocate for the challenges faced by the residents of Labasa and the northern region, conveying her dedication to better representing their interests.
Zaheen Ibrahim, president of the Festival of the Friendly North committee, voiced strong support for Waqaniburotu and the Labasa Town Council, emphasizing their collective backing.
In addition to winning the Miss Friendly North title, Waqaniburotu also earned the Miss Charity title after her team successfully raised over $19,000. She was recognized for her talents by winning awards in both the best talent and sarong categories.
The first runner-up title went to Adi Volitikoro from the Labasa Town Council, while Vika Tadu, representing the Northern Civil Service, secured the second runner-up position.
