Arieta Naqai, a 22-year-old nurse aide from Nalawa in Ra, is one of nine contestants competing for the prestigious title of Miss Bula Queen at the upcoming FMF Nadi Bula Festival, which is set to be held from July 19 to 26 at Koroivolu Park in Nadi. Sponsored by PSH Hospitals, Ms. Naqai’s platform focuses on raising awareness about non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Fiji.

With a strong conviction, Naqai emphasized the importance of healthy living, advocating for increased physical activity and nutritious eating habits among individuals, particularly the youth. Her involvement in recent community clean-up initiatives showcases her dedication not just to health issues, but also to environmental sustainability. While participating as a Bula contestant, she was able to connect her messages about health and environmental cleanliness, reinforcing the strong link between living in a clean environment and overall well-being.

This year’s festival promises to foster a spirit of unity and responsibility within the community. It echoes similar sentiments seen in past festivals, where contestants have utilized their platforms to highlight significant social challenges. The proactive stance of this year’s Miss Bula contestants, including initiatives focused on environmental conservation, reflects a broader trend of young leaders advocating for positive change in Fiji.

As the festival approaches, the hopeful message resonating from Naqai and her fellow contestants embodies a commitment to shaping a healthier and more sustainable future for Fiji, encouraging collective action in addressing pressing health concerns.
