An incident involving a GA-8 Airvan, identified by the registration DQ-VAN, took place at Yasawa Aerodrome on the morning of Saturday, December 21, 2024. The aircraft took off from Nadi Airport at 9:49 AM and unfortunately overran the runway upon landing at Yasawa Aerodrome.
Despite sustaining damage to its nose wheel and propeller, the aircraft was able to stop just outside the runway area. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported, and both the pilot and the six passengers onboard were safe. Operations at Yasawa Aerodrome remained unimpacted, allowing aviation activities to continue as scheduled.
In light of this incident, the Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation has appointed an investigator to carry out a thorough inquiry.
