Round five of the 2025 Suva Netball Association’s Business House League took place at the National Netball Centre in Laucala Bay on Tuesday night, attracting considerable excitement. The Ministry of Housing netball team achieved the highest score of the round, defeating Kelton Investment 19-13 in their Pool Three match on court number four.
As the league progresses, competition has intensified following the initial rounds, which have seen a reduction in the number of participating teams, indicating the emergence of stronger corporate teams in the league. The first round featured several closely contested matches, with notable highlights including the Ministry of Health drawing 13-all against Southern Education and the Water Authority of Fiji securing a victory over InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) with a score of 14-6.
In the second round, IHG managed to bounce back by winning against the Australian High Commission 12-8, while Nasinu Medics dominated Capital Insurance with a 15-2 victory. The Ministry of Housing also demonstrated consistency with an 11-all draw against Recoveries Corporation Ltd (RCL).
As the rounds continued, round three was marked by competitive clashes, with Newworld IGA falling to IHG 11-8, and the Ministry of Health unable to overcome Southern Cross, losing 12-6. The fourth round highlighted the ongoing strength of the Ministry of Housing, who triumphed over Kelton Investment, and a narrow 9-7 win by FNU Nasinu over Capital Insurance.
Looking ahead, the excitement is set to continue, with the second batch of matches scheduled for tonight. The progress of the tournament reflects a growing enthusiasm for netball in the region, with increased participation and a competitive spirit that fosters camaraderie and skill development among teams. This is reminiscent of trends seen in other netball competitions across Fiji, where local associations prioritize player development and community engagement through sport.
Overall, the ongoing matches are not only providing thrilling entertainment but also contributing to the personal growth of players and a stronger community through shared sporting experiences. With each round, the league builds on its reputation for fostering talent and enthusiasm in netball, promising a bright future for the sport in Fiji.
