Ministry of Health Prioritizes Safety of Healthcare Workers Amid Growing Concerns

The Ministry of Health and Medical Services has emphasized that ensuring the safety and well-being of healthcare workers at nursing stations and health centers nationwide is a primary concern. In a recent statement, the Ministry expressed that it will not tolerate any disrespectful behavior or intimidation directed toward medical staff, who are committed to serving these communities.

The Ministry noted a delay in appointing a replacement nurse for the Naililili Nursing Station in Rewa, following a series of robberies at the station’s quarters last December. Currently, the nurse assigned to Naililili is based at Wainibokasi Hospital and visits the nursing station monthly to run Maternal Child Health Clinics and Special Outpatients Clinics. Additionally, a laborer provides cleaning services for the nursing station once a month.

As part of its strategy, the Ministry plans to install a fence and undertake minor renovations at the Naililili Nursing Station. Furthermore, it is urging local communities to take measures to protect the healthcare workers serving in their areas.
