Government ministers are uniting to address the growing concerns over street dwelling, youth drug abuse, and the rising incidence of HIV among young people. Under the leadership of Sashi Kiran, the Minister for Women, Children, and Social Protection, a high-level meeting took place on Monday to explore coordinated solutions to these pressing social issues.
Attendees included several key ministers: Ifereimi Vasu for iTaukei Affairs, Siromi Turaga for Justice, Ioane Naivalurua for Policing, Maciu Nalumisa for Housing and Local Government, and Sakiasi Ditoka for Rural and Maritime Development, along with their respective Permanent Secretaries.
The focus of the discussions was on developing cross-sector strategies to enhance rehabilitation and reintegration programs specifically aimed at young street dwellers.
