The Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection, Lynda Tabuya, provided a memorable afternoon filled with fun and laughter for the children of St. Christopher’s Home, Dilkusha Home, and Pearly Gates Home at the Vou Fijian Flying Circus.
Joined by their committed carers, Tabuya experienced the stunning performances from the Vou dance and song troupe alongside 44 children and 20 of her own nieces and nephews. This event served as a refreshing break from the children’s usual weekend activities, giving them the opportunity to enjoy a day of joy and excitement.
The children and their carers expressed their delight by singing throughout the journey home, demonstrating how much they appreciated the outing and its positive effect on their spirits.
Minister Tabuya was particularly impressed with the show, calling it the best homegrown performance she had seen to date. She remarked, “I’ve seen many circus shows worldwide, but this show was different because of its Fijian-ness; the performers took the humour and the Bula spirit to another level.”
Throughout the event, Tabuya’s commitment to supporting and uplifting children under State care was clearly demonstrated as she actively engaged with the children, sharing in their happiness. Her attendance at the Vou Fijian Flying Circus underscored her dedication to promoting the welfare and joy of all children, particularly those in State protection.
