Alitia Bainivalu, the Fisheries and Forests Minister, recently visited two prospective aquaculture pond sites located in the Kadavu region. The identified sites are situated in Tabuya and Solovola villages within the Nabukelevu District. During her visit, the Minister also took the opportunity to tour a seaweed farm at Cevai, which is owned by local entrepreneur Maika Vunituraga.
Bainivalu’s engagement in Kadavu commenced last week, during which she met with government officials at the Vunisea Government Station. Her official tour wrapped up with a visit to the Kavala Fisheries Station, concluding an impactful series of site visits aimed at enhancing aquaculture initiatives in the area.
This visit not only reflects the government’s commitment to boosting local fisheries and aquaculture but also promotes sustainable practices that can benefit the community economically. The exploration of aquaculture in Kadavu could pave the way for improved livelihoods and the responsible use of marine resources, fostering a brighter future for the region.
