Eight individuals were taken to Korovou Hospital following a serious collision between a container trailer and a minibus. The incident occurred around midday near Lokuya Hill, close to Verata Junction along King’s Road.

Both drivers, along with six passengers from the minibus, received medical attention at the hospital. In light of this accident, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, the Director of Traffic for the Fiji Police Force, is urging all Public Service Vehicle (PSV) drivers to exercise greater caution while driving.

“This is the second incident this week involving PSVs, and innocent passengers are becoming victims on our roads,” highlighted SSP Divuana, emphasizing the need for vigilance.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.

In summary, this unfortunate event underscores the importance of road safety and the need for drivers, especially those operating public service vehicles, to remain alert and prioritize the safety of their passengers. With ongoing investigations, it is hoped that measures will be strengthened to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
