The Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH) Hospital in Nadi recently celebrated its first anniversary, reflecting on a year filled with notable achievements. Officially opened by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka on July 4, 2023, PSH has rapidly established itself as a key player in the healthcare landscape of Fiji.
Operations manager Ritesh Kumar noted that the hospital chose to mark this special occasion during the festive season to accommodate its busy clinical schedule in July. He expressed enthusiasm about the milestones reached in their first year, particularly mentioning the successful delivery of advanced medical services, including a groundbreaking open-heart surgery performed in November.
PSH’s founder and CEO Parvish Kumar shared that the completion of this open-heart surgery on a Lautoka patient was a significant milestone for both the hospital and the local medical community. He highlighted the meticulous planning and investment in advanced medical technology that facilitated this complex procedure. This achievement is particularly commendable given that the operation was executed by a team of highly skilled cardiology specialists.
Looking ahead, the hospital has ambitious plans, including the launch of a new hyperbaric chamber and a special incentive targeted at Fiji’s sugarcane farmers, scheduled for next week. Furthermore, a new five-storey building adjacent to the current hospital is expected to be completed in two months, which will feature a state-of-the-art MRI machine and a medical drug manufacturing plant anticipated to start operations by August 2025. Kumar hinted that further exciting developments would be announced in 2025.
This anniversary not only marks PSH’s growth but also reflects a hopeful trajectory for healthcare in Fiji, emphasizing its potential as a leading destination for health tourism. The combination of high-quality medical services and the allure of Fiji as a travel destination provides a unique opportunity for patients both locally and internationally. It signals a promising future where medical needs can be met affordably and effectively without traveling overseas.
In summary, PSH’s success over the past year represents a significant advancement in Fiji’s healthcare capabilities and sets a hopeful tone for continued growth in medical tourism, ultimately benefiting both the local community and international health travelers seeking quality care.
