A double-storey house was gutted by a fire in Cuvu, Sigatoka, early this morning. The blaze reportedly began around 2:00 AM, as per an eyewitness account. Despite the prompt response from the National Fire Authority, firefighters were unable to extinguish the fire in time to save the structure. Fortunately, authorities from the Fiji Police Force confirmed that there were no casualties resulting from the incident. The house was owned by a retired businessman.

This unfortunate event highlights the importance of fire safety and preparedness, especially in residential areas. While the loss of property is significant, the absence of injuries or fatalities is a comforting outcome. The community can look toward the future and support the affected family as they recover from this disaster.
