The MHCC Complex in Suva celebrated its 17th anniversary today, marking a significant milestone for the shopping center that has been a staple in Fiji since its opening. Kunaseelan Sabaratnam, Director for Carpenters Finance, emphasized the complex’s unique position as the first shopping mall in Fiji where customers can find a comprehensive range of products and services all under one roof.
During the celebrations, Sabaratnam highlighted the complex’s long-standing service to the community, describing it as a one-stop shop that features everything from supermarkets to fashion retailers. He noted that MHCC has played an important role in supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the country, offering opportunities for new businesses to establish themselves, particularly through the use of pushcarts for those unable to rent larger retail spaces.
Looking ahead, Sabaratnam shared exciting plans for the future of the complex, including renovations to existing stalls and the introduction of a new tower. These developments are expected to enhance the shopping experience further, with a goal of welcoming an influx of customers by early March.
Since its inception in 2007, MHCC has not only provided essential services to customers but has also contributed to employment opportunities for many Fijians. The anniversary celebration reflects the complex’s commitment to growth and community support.
This story showcases the resilience and adaptability of local businesses, and the ongoing evolution of shopping experiences in Fiji. As MHCC embarks on its future plans, it promises to continue being a key player in the retail landscape, fostering economic growth and supporting entrepreneurship in the region.
