Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School narrowly defeated Queen Victoria School 18-15 in their Vodafone Super Deans under-14 quarter-final match. MGM faced a tense finish as QVS scored two tries in the closing moments, but ultimately managed to secure the win.
Having led 15-3 at halftime, MGM’s only additional points in the second half came from a penalty. Team manager Miriama Lutubulo expressed confidence going into the semi-finals, emphasizing the team’s commitment to training harder for the tougher challenges ahead.
Lutubulo highlighted the team’s motivation, stating, “The driving factor has always been them playing for themselves, their families, school and friends.” She noted the support from parents as a significant encouragement for the players.
With this victory, MGM advances to the semi-finals, where they will compete against either Lelean Memorial School, Ratu Kadavulevu School, or Marist Brothers High School.
