Lako Yani Management Pte Limited, the business division of the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma, has commenced the construction of a 10-storey building on Stewart Street in Suva. This $46 million project is anticipated to be completed by 2026.
Sereana Qoro, the chief executive officer of Lako Yani Management, stated that this project is one of two significant initiatives the company is undertaking this year. She mentioned, “The first one is a 10-storey building on Stewart St, located adjacent to the existing Reverend John Hunt building. This is a major project for the church, and construction has begun. We expect to complete it by June 2026.”
In addition to the Stewart Street building, Qoro noted that a service station is also being constructed in Davuilevu, which is another substantial project that is expected to take about 10 months to complete, aiming for a finish in 2025.
The new building on Stewart Street will consist of eight floors of office space, two floors dedicated to retail shops, and a food court, as well as various other business activities on the lower levels.
Moreover, the company is planning to develop Furnival Park into a sports facility, which will feature a 4,000-seat stadium, a multi-purpose gym, and a parking area for 220 vehicles. Furnival Park will also include an international-standard rugby and soccer field, complete with a 1,000-seat pavilion.
Qoro added that the Furnival Park project is seen as a long-term venture for the company.
