Methodist Church Launches Ambitious $46 Million Project in Suva

Lako Yani Management Pte Limited, the commercial branch of the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma, has commenced the construction of a 10-storey building on Stewart Street in Suva. This project, valued at $46 million, is anticipated to be completed by 2026.

Sereana Qoro, the chief executive officer of Lako Yani Management, stated that this building is one of two significant projects they are undertaking this year. She explained that the first project is the 10-storey building adjacent to the existing Reverend John Hunt building, marking it as the church’s largest endeavor, with an expected completion date of June 2026.

In addition to this project, a service station is also being developed in Davuilevu, which is another substantial initiative. According to Ms. Qoro, the land for this project is church-owned and is expected to be completed within ten months, aiming for a 2025 completion.

The new building on Stewart Street will feature eight stories dedicated to office space and two stories for retail shops, along with a food court and various business activities on the lower floors.

Beyond these two projects, the organization is also planning to transform Furnival Park into a sporting complex. This development will include a stadium with a capacity of 4,000 seats, a multi-purpose gym, and a parking area for 220 vehicles. Furnival Park will also feature an international-standard rugby and soccer field, complete with a 1,000-seat pavilion. Ms. Qoro mentioned that the Furnival Park project is a long-term vision for the company.
